Fitchburg - William Alfred “Bill” Phillips, age 64, of Fitchburg, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on Sept. 24, 1959, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of William A. and Nancy Jo (Davis) Phillips.
Bill graduated from Bishop Boyle High School in Homestead, Pa. in 1977. He proudly served his county as a member of the U.S. Air Force. On July 11, 1986, he married Sharon Corazzini-Phillips in Las Vegas, Nev.
Bill enjoyed a 40-year career as an on-air radio personality. He got his Wisconsin start at the all-polka WIBU, followed by notable stints at 94.9 WOLX in Madison and 99.5 “The Wolf” in Dallas, Texas. Beyond radio he loved airplanes, spending time in the Air Force and as a life-long plane spotter.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Michael (William Gu) Phillips; and sisters, Cynthia “Cindy” Lawson and Marybeth (Edward) Stoecker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held at Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral and Cremation Care, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
