Obituary
LODI - Russell J. Richard, age 84, died unexpectedly at home surrounded by family after a long battle with several health issues on Friday, June 14, 2024.
He was born on August 6, 1939, in Sauk City, Wis., the son of Albert and Florence (Reamer) Richard.
After graduating from Prairie du Sac High School in 1957, Russ then enlisted and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.
On June 28, 1968, he married Judith Tarpley and was happily married for 56 years.
Russ lived his life always building and searching for simpler solutions. Having a strong work ethic compelled him to start his business, Interior Design, where he worked with clients to design, build, and remodel their home to fulfill their dreams. No project was too big, he would make their dream a reality! Even after retiring, Russ was one never to sit idle, he continued to help family and friends with all their construction needs into his late 70’s.
Russ had a passion for a lot of things, from rumbling pipes of his Harley to the outdoors and his attention to detail and love of working with his hands. He shared his knowledge and passed his love and passions onto his family, which were the center of his life.
In addition to his wife Judy, survivors include his sons, Ron (Cathy) and Jeff; his daughter, Rhonda (Scott) Jensen; stepdaughter, Debra Chapman; grandchildren, Dalton (Lillian), Allison and Ashley Richard and Derek (Mikaila) Jensen; four great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Myla Jensen and Benjamin and Sarah Richard; his sister, Marveline Kaldenberg; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William (Clare) Richard; and brother-in-law, George Kaldenberg.
Memorial Service will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 258 Lodi St, Lodi, at 11:00 am on Monday July 8, 2024, with Rev. Ellen Keyser presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
