FRIENDSHIP - Lila A. Olson, age 84, of Friendship, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Sage Meadow Assisted Living, Middleton, Wis. She was born on July 28, 1939, in Taylor, Wis., the daughter of Clarence and Esther (Brown) Halverson.
Lila grew up on a dairy farm in Taylor, the youngest of ten children. She graduated from Taylor High School in 1957. Lila worked as a kitchen aide for Villa Pines Nursing Home in Friendship, Wis., for 32 years. Lila loved cooking and she will be fondly remembered for her potato salad and carrot cake. She spoiled her grandchildren and son-in-law with sweets. The smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies greeted them at the door. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles and following the Packers and Brewers. She loved hosting a good party, the most recent being her 83rd birthday.
Lila is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Jeff Wong) Olson; sons, Douglas (Carla Murphy) Olson and David Olson; sister, Myrtle Gurecki; six grandchildren, Peter Wong, Nick (Jasmine) Wong, Noah Wong, Ryan (Erin) Olson, Kevin Olson and Amy (Mason) Russell; and two great-grandchildren, Cora Olson and Leon Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Esther; her siblings, Marian Hansen, Junice Severson, Edythe Smikrud, Beatrice Huber, Grace Stenulson, Gordon Halverson, Curtis Halverson and Genevieve Johnson.
Special thanks to her dear friends at Faith in Action, the Moundview Hospital and Clinic, her guardian angel neighbors and all those in the community that made it possible for her to stay in her own home in Friendship for those many years.
A private reception and remembrance will be held.
