Obituary
OREGON - David John McClellan passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained from an auto accident in October 2023. Dave was born to Charles and Beverly (Henthorne) McClellan on Jan. 5, 1949, in Edgerton, Wis., where he grew up and attended high school. The 1967 graduate was an athlete and friend to many.
After high school, Dave worked in the car business, first as a salesman then as a sales manager at many of the dealerships in the Madison area. He would move on to become a used car buyer to free up his evenings giving him the opportunity to cheer on his daughter, Katie, when she began playing competitive sports in school.
Dave married Debra Melton in February of 1982. They welcomed their daughter, Katie into the family in 1983. Dave was an avid Wisconsin sports fan - especially Badgers and Packers football. He and Deb held season Badgers football and basketball tickets for many years. When Dave wasn't cheering on the Badgers and Packers he loved to spend time with friends, neighbors and family telling stories and making jokes.
Dave is survived by his wife, Debra; daughter, Katie (Steve) Rohde; mother, Beverly Christianson; his beloved dog, Oliver; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McClellan; mother-in-law, Doris Melton; and father-in-law, Henry Melton.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial with be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
