Obituary

OREGON - Homer Bellus, age 89, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Julius and Helen (Bennett) Bellus.

Homer served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War Era and was later in the Air Force Reserves. He received his associate degree in broadcast engineering in Kansas City and worked at WKOW as a broadcasting engineer for many years. He proudly co-founded ProVideo, and worked there until his retirement. Homer married the love of his life, Joann (Kingslien) Bellus, in 1970 and they raised their family in Oregon, Wis.

Homer was a witty, playful, and yet very gentle soul. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended all of his children and grandchildren’s school events, supporting them every step of the way. Homer enjoyed woodworking, doing puzzles and word games, and never missed a Packers or Brewers game. He loved playing euchre and dominos with friends. Homer was a history buff and loved World War II and airplanes, even though he didn’t like to fly. He and Joann enjoyed taking road trips and traveling, a favorite vacation was their trip to Yosemite, in California.

Homer is survived by his wife, Joann; sons, Todd (Ariane) Erickson and Jeff (Stephanie Black-Bellus) Bellus; daughter, Lisa (Mark) VanderMause; and grandchildren, Brendan, Rowan and Audrey Erickson, Ian, Dayne and Mia VanderMause, and Sophia, Celia and Julia Bellus. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert (Stella) Bellus and Julius (Faye) Bellus Jr.

We were fortunate to have Homer, JoAnn & Jeff as great next door neighbors when we lived at Briarwood, just outside of Oregon. Homer always had a smile & nice greeting for us. Mike & Pam Raschein

Homer was wonderful to work with. I went on many commercial shoots with Homer and his partner, Jerry Emmerich during his days working at WKOW and Pro Video. He was a true video engineering talent, but more importantly, he was a terrific person. I enjoyed seeing him at WKOW reunions and am sorry to hear of his passing.
