Gene had opened the pharmacy in Cross Plains, which included a gift shop. My brothers and I would ride our bikes there to purchase gifts with our allowances for numerous occasions. Most memorable, mother’s days. We dumped change and dollar bills on the counter, never knowing if we had enough for our selected item for purchase. I’ll bet there were times where he smiled and thanked us without the right amount. Gene was always kind and attentive to us as kids. We certainly thought that he was a warm & generous man. Our condolences to your family from ours. May the memories keep him in your hearts. The Runk Family

Gene was a God sent to my mom Mary in her later stages of life. He often dropped off her prescritions to her home when needed. He was an angel to our family and his kindness will never be forgotten. As an original charter member of the Cross Plains Lions Club, I am glad he carried the tradition of the Lions 'WE SERVE'! Rest in peace my friend. Respect always. Love is not what you say, Love is what you do. Gene showed this love every day to everyone.

Thanks for everything Pa. From teaching me how to fish to teaching me how to count back change without a register telling me; I'll forever cherish our memories together. From watching me graduate highschool to graduating college to getting married and then having my first baby. I am so happy you were there to celebrate all of those exciting life milestones with me. I find comfort in knowing you're back with Aumma. I love you and miss you. Rest easy.

My sincere condolences to Gene’s family. I have many and varied fond memories of good times with Gene from over the years - from his caring service as a local pharmacist, to card games at Deer Camp and more. May his kind soul rest in peace. Charlie Saeman
