I am so sorry for your pain in the passing of Rick. I went to school with Rick and he was (and sounded like he continued to be) a kind person! He was generous with his smiles and though he was not a chatty person, he was always friendly and kind.
With sympathy and prayers,

Grew up on Cty B next to Rick and his family. So many memories made. As he got older he was always up for coming over to grandpas farm. Unfortunately it was during hay baling time and grandpa sucked him into helping. Rick never declined. He’s built a few things for my family which we will always cherish. My heart is sooo broken! He was a great human being.

What a nicely written obituary that brought back so many good memories. Rick was talented in so many different areas and he was always willing to lend a hand on many projects over the years, despite how busy he was in his own life. Rick always treated my family and I with the utmost kindness. To this day I don't know that I have met someone who was more patient than Rick. He would take as long as needed to teach or explain something to me and he never once made me feel rushed....he truly had the patience of a saint. I enjoyed shooting pool with Rick on many occasions, even though I knew I would seldom ever win a game.....he was so good. But, of all Rick's many accomplishments and gifts, the most important was that he helped to raise one of the finest young men that a parent could ever hope for. Cameron Carpenter is kind, smart, funny, and mature well beyond his young age. My family and I offer our deepest condolences to all of Rick's family and friends, but especially to Cameron who lost his father way too early.
Love,

I’m sorry to hear about Rick passing away. I met Rick when he worked for my dad at Madison General Hospital. I knew him better after I started working at MGH. He was very nice to talk to. May he rest in Peace.
