Obituary

MADISON / MIDDLETON - Wayne Wigdal, age 78, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Feb. 1, 1946, in Madison, the son of Orlin and Gladys Wigdal. After attending Central High School, Wayne fulfilled his military obligation with the U.S. Marines.


Wayne married Sherene (Rejret) Wigdal on Sept. 16, 1966, and together they had two children, Patricia and Tammy.  Wayne enjoyed golfing (including four holes-in-one), hunting and going to car shows in his 1937 Ford hotrod with his bride. He loved watching hummingbirds while sitting on his perfectly manicured lawn.


Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 ½ years, Sherene; daughters, Patty (Jay) Mabis and Tammy (Jon) Benninger; grandchildren, Tyler Ziegler, Brianna Lange, Jared and Morgan Benninger, and Jack and Alex Mabis; and brothers, Dick and Ken Wigdal. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and sister-in-law, Carol Wigdal.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park.
