Obituary
STOUGHTON / MADISON - Judith Marie “Judy” Thomsen was born in Black River Falls (BR Falls) on July 6, 1935. She grew up in BR Falls where she experienced the many adventures of small-town life. She was fond of saying, “small town, gotta make your own fun.” Many stories were recounted; from walking on the slippery rocks by the river, to climbing over the roof at the high school, fun was made.
In 1949, her family moved to the eastside of Madison where she attended Madison East High School. After graduation she married Paul Thomsen. In 1955, their daughter, Susan, was born, followed by their son, John, in 1959. The family lived on the eastside and also Maple Bluff for many years.
Judy had many interests, including reading mystery novels, knitting, sewing and cooking. She also volunteered at the Meriter Hospital gift shop for many years, eventually becoming vice president of the volunteer auxiliary.
Of all of our treasured memories of Judy/Mom/“Mimi,” making lefse at Thanksgiving and getting on the “Sock List” at Christmas were some of the fondest.
Judy is survived by her son, John Thomsen (Ann Schlimgen); grandchildren, Karina Kinlen (John), Andrew “Drew” Kuzan (Shelby Goldman) and Annalise “Anna” Lysinger (Ray); great-grandchildren, Ari Kinlen, Nadya Kinlen, Eli Kinlen, Donovan Lysinger and Desmond Lysinger; and son-in-law, Bill Kuzan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvia and Dr. Myron Moen; sister, Sylvia Pfanku; husband, Paul Thomsen; and daughter, Susan Kuzan.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. @ Jackson St., Stoughton, from 12 noon to 5 p.m., with a celebration of life service beginning 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
