Obituary

ARGYLE - Daniel R. Deegan, age 68, of Argyle, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at UW Hospital in Madison. Best known as ‘Danny,’ he was born June 14, 1955, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Feggestad) Deegan.

Danny spent his life helping others. This started when his dad, Bob, bought Madison Delivery Service and hired Danny on. They enjoyed working together for Madison Delivery before Danny moved on and started his own service business. Danny was never not in the business of helping others. He worked in home healthcare several years and was a caretaker for both his ailing parents in their final years. Danny was committed to his clients in his caretaker role and built genuine friendships with them. Fun came easily to Danny, and we often heard stories of bowling outings, trips to the casino, and restaurant visits with clients. Danny took a genuine interest in everyone he met, and you felt seen after a conversation with him.

Danny recently retired to his rural home, and he thoroughly enjoyed his time there. Danny found great peace and solitude in nature. In the most recent years, you could find him in his garage working on his cars and projects, out in his woods cutting firewood and clearing brush, building a fire in his wood stove and sitting in front of it with a cup of tea or sitting on his porch with a glass of wine. Danny loved his children and granddaughters more than anything. He loved spending time with Dereck on his property doing projects and on Friday night you could often find him at a fish fry with his daughter, Jessica. Danny was especially happy when he was able to spend any time with his three granddaughters, Kiara, Lilly and Violet. Danny enjoyed going up north to the family cabin in Rhinelander. He enjoyed fishing on the lake, taking the pontoon out for a cruise or accomplishing a project. Danny liked traveling and had a special appreciation for going out west. He treasured his birthday trip to Colorado with his brothers and spoke about it for years to follow. Danny had a great group of friends. He loved spending time with them, often going to live music or listening to music. Danny was a wonderful listener and an exceptional problem solver. His storytelling skills were unmatched. He was truly everyone’s best friend.

Danny is survived by his children, Jessica Deegan and Dereck Deegan (Haley Raab); their mother and friend, Pam Deegan; grandchildren Kiara Hairston, Lillyan Deegan and Violet Deegan-Raab; brothers, David (Lori) Deegan, Jon Deegan, and Jeffrey (Katie) Deegan; and his sister, Lori (Rich) Culles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Deegan.

In honoring Danny’s wishes of not doing a traditional funeral we are exploring a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com..

Danny was simply the best in a man and friend who we were so blessed to have in our lives for over 30 years - we shared the best of times and the worst of times together - there are no words to describe his loss. Danny, you will remain forever in our hearts until we meet again. Jim and Pattie Troha

My condolences to Danny’s family. I was a classmate and friend of Danny back in high school. He was always upbeat, smiling and he had a great sense of humor and a laugh to match ! I hadn’t seen Danny since high school, but thought of him often, we graduated OHS class of 73, fifty one years ago. His character and personality left an indelible mark with me. RIP Danny, Frank Forman
