Obituary
LODI - Jerry L. Wenger, age 79, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 20, 1945, in Madison, WI, the son of the late Arnold and Betty (Frey) Wenger.
After attending Lodi High School, Jerry proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy on the USS Independence Aircraft Carrier.
Returning to the Lodi area, Jerry started his career working as a mechanic with several area auto dealerships. Jerry then owned and operated Wisconsin Power and Equipment selling Case Implement and farm equipment. After the closing of his implement business, Jerry continued with Jerry's Excavating, which he operated until his retirement in 2006.
Jerry had a variety of interests including restoring classic cars and horse-drawn equipment, and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and sharing what he grew with family, neighbors, and friends.
He celebrated over 38 years together with his wife Rhonda Moran. The center of Jerry's life was his family. In addition to Rhonda, survivors include his sons, Randy (Laura Larson), Robert (Sara), and David (Karen) Wenger; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew, Savannah, Karissa, Jessica, and Brandon (Libbi) Wenger, and Jamie Skrum; his three great-grandchildren, Milo and Millie Kopacka, and Wilder Wenger; his sisters-in-law, Maggie Wenger and Norma Wenger, his faithful canine companion, Maverick, and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Jenny (Bud) Radl, Mary (John) Miller, Rosie (Marvin) Dolphin, and Marguerite "Mitzi" (Rick) Sogn; and five brothers, Arnold, Emil "Mike", Herman "Boots" (Darlene), John, and Alvin.
Funeral Services will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 258 Lodi St, Lodi, at 11:00 am on Friday May 31, 2024, with Rev. Ellen Keyser presiding. Burial will be held immediately following at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Friday, at the church.
The family would like to recognize the VA Hospital and all the nurses and doctors that have helped to care for Jerry over the last 15+ years.
