Obituary
Middleton - Marie Ann Adler, age 70, of Middleton, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at UW Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1954, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Jerome and Mary Ann (Acker) Adler. Marie was the fifth of ten children who grew up on the family farm. Her job was to gather the eggs after chasing the hens off their nests, not her favorite work. She did love all the kittens that ran free, always hugging and carrying them around with her.
She attended St. Peter's Catholic School and graduated from Middleton High School in 1972. Marie worked at Cuna Mutual as a Grill Chef making her famous breakfasts, where she was known as "The Hashbrown Lady." Marie enjoyed bowling at The Sport Bowl in the Middleton Women's League for 13 years where she also worked for eight years. She played softball for Rusty's and was known for her fast-throwing arm. Marie was an avid sports enthusiast, following the Badgers, Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Packers, and Ashton Home Talent. She loved to laugh, and enjoyed making others laugh with her one-liners. She was an excellent cribbage and euchre player, often entering tournaments. Marie loved her classic rock music. She was always kind and ready to help those in need, you may have even found her standing at your door with a plate of fruit. Marie's last gift to the world were her eyes, donated to the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Angela Wohlferd; sisters, Linda Ziegler, Jane (Gary) Itten and Mary (Bruce) Heise; brothers, Dan (Pat) Adler, Butch (Cookie) Adler, David (Kim) Adler and Tom Adler; former husband, Mark Wohlferd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Terry; brothers, Mark Adler and Jerry Adler; and brother-in-law, Bob Ziegler.
