Obituary

MADISON - Barbara Jean Anderson, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1950, in Tomahawk, the daughter of Hans and Tracy (Watruba) Anderson.

Barb graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1968. She worked in underwriting for insurance companies including Church Mutual and Wausau Insurance. During those years, she earned multiple insurance designations.

Barb loved being a sports mom and band mom and kept busy with her three children’s activities. She loved being a grandmother to Zoey and Eliana. Barb loved animals, especially her adored granddogs. She loved nature and flowers, was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and games. Barb was very empowering even while going through her own cancer treatments. She was a breast cancer survivor and supporter. She was selfless, kind, caring, tough and had a great sense of humor. Barb always found a way to make others laugh with her witty sense of humor. She made sure that people around her were comfortable and had what they needed, often looking out for others more than herself.

Barb is survived by her daughters, Jessica Radtke and Jana (Alex) Lozano; son, Gary (Becky) Halverson; two granddaughters, Zoey and Eliana Lozano; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Witt, Deborah Anderson and Cindy Lu Anderson; and brothers, Roland and John Anderson.

In accordance with Barb's wishes, no services will be held.

It hurts my heat to hear of Barb's passing. I was one of her nurses at the care center and after I transferred to the hospital, I also cared for her there. I always enjoyed my conversations with Barb, she was a caring person and great patient. She truly was one of the patients I missed when I went to the hospital. She loved talking about the grandchildren and we swapped stories often. She will be missed. Sandy Meier
