Donald Halverson

STOUGHTON - Donald Harold “Bud” Halverson, age 96, of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Stoughton Hospital. He was born on March 22, 1928, in Stoughton, the son of Harold and Bernice (Watson) Halverson.

Bud graduated from Stoughton High School with honors in 1946. He also graduated from UW-Madison School of Business and Devry Technical School in electronics. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Fosdahl, on Oct. 11, 1958, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton. He owned and operated Halverson Avionics in Madison for over 30 years, which complimented his love of flying and adventures.

Bud was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, and he thoroughly enjoyed sharing pilot stories. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Stoughton Country Club for over 70 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, singing karaoke and flying. He loved telling stories of his many adventures. He had a wonderful memory and was able to recall every detail.  

Bud is survived by his son, Eric (Charlotte) Halverson; daughter, Wendy (Dale) Olson; grandchildren, Christin (Miguel), Erica (Angel), Heidi (Brandon), Micah (Susanna), Diana (Joe) and Matt (Katie); 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Gerry (Kent) Jacobson; two sisters-in-law, Gen Wilberg and Jean Hestnes; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Fundermark and many nieces and nephews that were very special to him. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Lorraine "Nunie" on Aug. 19, 2023; his parents, Harold and Bernice; and sisters, Shirley, Margie and Elaine.

A memorial service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. A celebration of life will follow the service at HALVERSON’S, 1965 Barber Drive, Stoughton, starting at 3 p.m.

A special thank you to Dr. Shannon O'Mahar and staff of SSM Oncology, Dr. Guirish Agni of Stoughton, neighbor Paul Aaker and family, the Koffee Kup in Stoughton for years of morning breakfast and "Number game for Coffee." To the Stoughton Country Club for being a special place for Bud. To Andy for the many years of karaoke and also to Renee of Blue Moon Karaoke for the years of enjoyment Bud had singing karaoke, and to anyone that complimented him after his singing, it meant the world to him.

Also, a special thank you to his son-in-law, Dale, for all the years of being there for Bud.
