Obituary
MADISON - Ronald Carey Sandlan, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on June 13, 1943, in Brooklyn, the son of Kenneth and Alice (Olson) Sandlan.
Ronald graduated from Oregon High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army where he was a radio operator. Ronald married the love of his life, Bertina Heiniger, on April 13, 1968, in Madison. He was a hardworking individual and loved his job as a machine repairman for Inpak.
Ronald was an amazing man with a big heart. He cared so much about his family. He was always giving to his children over himself. He loved all living things, great and small, and wouldn't hurt a bug.
Ronald will be missed by his daughters, Rhonda (Sam Ackley) Marquardt and Sabrina Sandlan; grandson, Zach (Christina) Marquardt; great-grandsons, Naill and Noah; sisters, Carol Sandlan and Ila Haynes; brothers, Daryl Sandlan and Ken (Sharon) Sandlan; and brother-in-law, Harold Eastman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alice; wife, Bertina; sister, Lois Eastman; brothers, Donald (Sandy) Sandlan, Dennis Sandlan and Keith (Hazel) Sandlan; nephews, Jimmy Heiniger and Stevie Sandlan; brother-in-law, Bill Haynes; and sister-in-law, Roberta Sandlan.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024. Military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m.
