MADISON - Jean Louise Seidl, age 77, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on May 9, 1947, in Madison, the daughter of Melford and Florence (Loy) Jensen.
Jean graduated from Madison Central High School in 1965 and received her Ph.D. in genetics from the UW-Madison in 1975. She worked as a microbiologist and later went on to work as an accountant, opening her own accounting business, Jean Seidl, LTD. She loved numbers and doing taxes was her passion. She was a member of Enrolled Agent Association.
Jean married Kenneth Kostenbader in 1977. Sadly, he passed away in 1993. She was lucky to find love again when she met Larry Seidl and they were married in 1994. Jean and Larry loved to travel early in their marriage. They adopted infant, Larry, in 1998. During their marriage Jean and Larry resided in Middleton, Stoughton, Fayette, Iowa, and Iowa City, Iowa, before returning to Madison.
Jean is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Larry Seidl; nephews, Dan Freiberg and Matthew Allison; and nieces, Abby Freiberg and Casey Allison. She had numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melford and Florence; infant brother, John Jensen; sister, Jill Jensen: and sister Jonn Allison.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
