COTTAGE GROVE - Nao Yee Thao, age 96, of Cottage Grove, Wis., passed away on October 24, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 11, 1928, in Xiang Khouang, Laos, the son of Chia Koua Thao and Kia Xiong.
Nao Yee dedicated a significant part of his life to serving in the Secret War from 1963 until May of 1975 at the age of 35. After the war, he continued his life in Laos until he relocated to America in 1993 where he lived a simple life serving the Hmong community and spending time with his family.
Nao Yee is survived by his brother, Chai Yang Thao; 13 beloved children and many grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tria Vang.
His presence will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024. A graveside service will be held at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 County Highway BB, Cottage Grove, at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024.
