Obituary

STOUGHTON - Sherry Johnson, age 59, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Stoughton Hospital. She was born on Nov. 14, 1964, the daughter of Delmer and Alma (Nelson) Dahl.

Sherry graduated from Stoughton High School, the class of 1983. On Sept. 15, 1984, she married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Johnson. From this marriage they welcomed their son, Josh, and daughter, Alicia.

Sherry and her mother, Alma, spent every Saturday together. It would start with breakfast at a local diner, grocery shopping and then on to whatever else the day brought them. Together was the only thing that mattered. On occasion they would even show up in the same outfit, unplanned.

Twice a year, Sherry and her three best friends would venture off on a girls only weekend. Diane, Ronda and Tammy meant the world to Sherry. Too many adventures, fun times, laughter, and tears to count. A friendship that started at work and turned into family.

Sherry had a contagious smile and always saw the positive in every situation. Sherry’s favorite time of year was always the fall. She could spend hours driving around taking in the beautiful scenery as the leaves changed color.  She never missed a chance to cheer on the Green Bay Packers, a hobby she enjoyed watching while surrounded by her family. Sherry had perfected the ratio for the best rum and diet coke and made a legendary potato salad. She spent every Memorial Day in St. Germain, Wis., surrounded by the ones that meant the most. Watching the kids catch blue gills off the pier was exactly where she wanted to be.

The highlight of Sherry’s life was no doubt, her grandchildren.  She was their biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. She always pushed them to be the best they could be, attending almost every sporting event, school event and every tea party imaginable. Sherry was up for anything those kids asked her to do. She loved spending time camping with them, playing endless games and participating in all the shenanigans; often being the instigator.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Gordon; son, Josh (Amanda) Johnson; daughter, Alicia (Phil) Hoops; grandchildren, Kylie, Paityn, Hunter and Chase Hoops, and Amelia and Jack Johnson; her parents, Delmer and Alma Dahl; her brother, Scott Dahl; her mother-in-law, Delores Johnson; and many other close relatives. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Clancy Johnson, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Kari Dahl.
