Obituary

STOUGHTON - Richard Hans Bjordahl, age 82, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his residence. He was born on May 21, 1941, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Mandus and Pearl (Jacobson) Bjordahl.

Richard graduated from Stoughton High School and married in 1959. Later, on July 15, 1972, he married Nancee (Ward) Bjordahl. Prior to retirement, Richard worked as an inspector for Uniroyal (US Rubber Company) for 62 years, from 1959 - 2021. He also worked at Piggly Wiggly/Eagles/Kohls Grocery Store from 1959 - 1984. He was a hardworking man!

Richard was always helping others and never expected a thank you, a value he instilled in his own children.  He believed that caring for neighbors and members of the community was very important. He was proud of his Norwegian Heritage. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, rosemaling, stock car racing (both watching races and racing himself). He also loved watching old western movies on TV, playing Euchre or dirty clubs, and especially Cribbage!

Richard is survived by his wife Nancee; sons, Christopher (Ann) Bjordahl and Andrew Bjordahl; daughter, Rebecca (James) Heisig; grandchildren, Paul (Jamie) Jacobson, Erik Bjordahl, Katie Bjordahl, Richard Bjordahl, Lydia Bjordahl, Prudence Bridges, Molly Bridges and Gretchen Bridges; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sawyer Jacobson; brother, Rodney (Germaine) Bjordahl MD; brother-in-law, Skip (Pat) Ward; and sisters-in-law, Mimi Ward and Gayle (Orlando) Rios. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Russel and Janet Ward; brother, Bob Bjordahl; son, Dan Bjordahl and daughter, Carrie Bjordahl.

In keeping with Richard’s wishes, no services will be held.

All memorial donations will be used for a Trade School Endowment which was very important to Richard.

I worked at Uniroyal with Dick. He was Great to let you know the " Correct Way " something should be done. Yes we disagreed occasionally but always resolved.

Richard my uncle. A man I really didn't understand till later in my own life. Truly a loving, self sacrificing care taker of the world not just his family. A true farmer not only with soil but with love and understanding. I will forever think of him and hope I make him proud

I worked with Dick at Eagle and remember him as a very, very kind man. He treated everyone with respect. He was the hardest of workers and would leave the produce dept to help at the front end or anywhere else and never complained or had a bad word to say. Wish we had more people like him. He was a wonderful person.
