Obituary
JEFFERSON - Bruce Donavon Knipfer of Jefferson was born on March 14, 1957, and passed on to his eternal home on the evening of May 2, 2024, of congestive heart failure and underlying diabetes.
Bruce was the loving son of Delmer (Elly) and wife, Julie Knipfer. A loving brother of 16 siblings, Bruce was a man who did many things for his community whether it be wood working, cabinet making, or the kitchen he designed for his home. Bruce also worked driving medical transport for the handicapped as well as promoting AAOW track chairs so that the handicapped can have a better quality of life. He also played Santa for many years giving smiles to the children of the community.
Bruce also left a legacy of service to his country as a member of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Dubuque LPD8 for four years during the later part of the Vietnam War.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, F. Catherine Knipfer; daughter, Tanna (Jamie) Hayes; five beautiful grandchildren, Jamie, Jaheim, Jessy, Angel and Jordan Hayes of Madison; brother-in-law, Rick Pelletier; and stepdaughter, Sonya Juanita and her children. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Donavon Ivory Cole Knipfer (17) and Tyler Francis Knipfer (21); sister, Theresa Knipfer; brothers, Tod Knipfer and Chris Knipfer; and stepbrother, Mike McCarty.
A celebration of life will be held at WIL-MAR NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER, 504 S. Brearly St., Madison, from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
