Obituary

MOUNT HOREB - Damian Scott Cadena Haglund, age 14, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. He was born on Dec. 22, 2009, in Madison, the son of Alejandro Cadena Garcia and Melissa Haglund.

Damian had an adventurous soul that took him trekking through the Smoky Mountains and Glacier National Park. He enjoyed exploring and camping around the country and doing anything that brought him out in nature. His passion for the great outdoors often guided him to the peaceful serenity of Zoo Beach and Lion’s Den Gorge on Lake Michigan during summer months. He loved his Saturdays with his dad and their hiking trips and visits to Devil’s Lake. Damian had hoped to one day visit his family in Ecuador. His sense of adventure was fortified by his inquisitiveness. He loved to learn and visit museums.

Damian’s passion for exploration was matched by his creativity which led him to build forts around town and making Lego creations. He was a talented photographer and had an eye for taking pictures with his phone and iPad.

Damian had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his family cats and dogs, Dex, Niko, Penny and Levi.

Damian is survived by his parents, Alejandro Cadena Garcia and Melissa Haglund; brother, Cristian Haglund; grandparents, Gary and Cindi Haglund and Rene Cadena; uncle, Dustin Haglund; aunt, Grace Cadena; great-uncle, Alejandro Vinueza; and his kitty son, Dex.

He was preceded in death by grandmother, Olga Garcia.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO MOUNT HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday.
