Obituary

LA FARGE - Donald "Donnie" Kleven, age 70, of La Farge, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on July 26, 1953, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Donald and Pat (Offerdahl) Kleven. Donnie graduated from Marshall High School in 1971. He married Debra Olson on May 20, 2012.

He worked hard to build a career as an auctioneer, specializing in farm, household and auto auctions. He loved and excelled at his profession, earning a reputation for being one of the best and most respected auctioneers in the State.

Racing was Donnie’s passion.  He visited many racetracks throughout the United States, but Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie always held a special place in his heart.  As a car owner, he won there on July 21, 2019, with legendary driver Kevin Olson behind the wheel. Donnie eventually served on the board of BMARA Racing and lived his dream of owning his own race car, which he maintained with a team of close friends. Donnie traveled to all 48 states and across Canada on his motorcycle and enjoyed many ATV and UTV trips with friends. While living in LaFarge, he enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with family. For the last several years, he and Deb enjoyed wintering in a retirement community in Texas, playing pool and enjoying life.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Debra; mother, Pat; children, Cody (Toni) Kleven and Kelsey (Kyle) Gleason; stepchild, Samantha Zweck; grandchildren, Paul and Lucas Kleven and Parker and Crosby Gleason; siblings, Kathryn (Paul) Collier, Dan (Tina) Kleven, and Dale (Becky) Kleven; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Kleven.

I don't even know how to mention all of the wonderful memories I have had with Donnie over my lifetime. I want to start by thanking him for being my Dad's Best friend! They did so many fun and exciting things together, one can only wonder how they never get caught. Haha Besides knowing Donnie since a young age I also had the privilege of checking off one of the items on his Bucket list and that was for him to drive a competitive race car. It was an honor to work next to Donnie and the excitement when he got behind the wheel was very thrilling. I could go on for hours about the memories. God Speed to you Donnie! Again thank you for always being there for me as family and friend. I hope you are ripping off some laps with KO, Stan and Lars!! You will Always be in our hearts! To Donnie's family, My sincere sympathy to all of you. You have lost a great person. I have known Donnie through my late husband, Norm, but had the chance to meet him last fall when he helped me with an auction. I had way to much stuff to have it at my home and e said he could not help me but he did not stop there. He helped me get it on line and came to my house to make sure things were done to my satisfaction. He called to see how I was doing even after the sale. Donnie will be in my heart foreever. Donnie, RIP. PS I hear you liked Old Fashions, right up my alley, next time I have one I will be thinking of you. Your friend, Mary Saba

Please accept our sincere condolences 🙏❤️. We met Donnie & Deb as Winter Texans at Eldorado Acres RV Park in Mission TX. They were both so friendly right away, always a smile on their faces. Of course we were instant friends with a liking for Old Fashioned! We even sampled each other's "secret" recipe! Donnie will be missed at Eldorado Acres for his smile, friendship, love of racing, love of shooting pool and his wonderful friendship. Love you Donnie ❤️ Karna & Phil Dwire

Talk about one of the nicest guys to ever walk the Earth. I had the privilege of knowing Donnie through tagging along on the various auctions and adventures that he had with my dad, Dennis. I was thankful for the good friendship he provided to my dad and I was a better person for having known Donnie. Reminiscing on all of the moments and times spent with him never fails to bring a smile & a chuckle. The world lost a damn good auctioneer and an even better person. Rest in Peace, Donnie. Thank you for the friendship. Luke Vike, Sr.
