MIDDLETON - Cheryl Anne Lewandowski, age 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, transitioned peacefully on April 16, 2024, at 1:39 a.m., surrounded by the love of her family. She fought valiantly to overcome her injuries after a devastating fall that left her paralyzed. She was born on May 3, 1949, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Walter and Leona (Klappa) Kwasiborski. Cheryl brought boundless joy and warmth to the lives she knew, devoting herself wholeheartedly to her family.
Cheryl graduated from Mercy High School (Milwaukee) in 1968. She married the love of her life, James Lewandowski, on Sept. 6, 1969, in Milwaukee. She became a stay-at-home mom to raise her two children and then resumed her career, working in various office positions. She started at Gimbels department store before transitioning to office work for her husband’s business, later becoming a stay-at-home grandma.
Cheryl adored spending cherished moments with her family, especially on vacations to Wisconsin Dells and Florida, where her love for the beach and warm weather was most evident. She found solace in the sun's embrace and the sound of waves crashing upon the shore. A devoted fan of the Badgers, Packers, Bucks and Brewers, Cheryl relished watching games and cheering on her favorite teams. She found comfort in music and the pages of books, where she could escape into worlds of imagination.
Cheryl was known for her deep spirituality and unwavering devotion to prayer, always praying for the health and safety of her loved ones and all those in need.
Cheryl leaves behind her beloved husband of 54 years, James Lewandowski; her cherished children, Craig (Eric Stigler) Lewandowski and Lori (Donald) Witalison; and her adored grandchildren, Kyle (Brianna Westphal) Witalison and Kaitlin (Cam Ketarkus) Witalison; and her favorite grand-dogs, Wolfie and Coco. She also leaves behind extended family and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Christian Funeral Mass will be held to honor Cheryl's life at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, with Father Michael Wanta presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Cheryl Anne Lewandowski’s memory will forever be a source of love, light, and inspiration to all who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
