Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Alex Brian Lee, age 33, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, after a 3- year battle with cancer at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. He was born on July 31, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Ed Lee, III and Regina (Braund) Gray.

Alex graduated from La Follette High School in 2008 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Business from UW-Whitewater in 2014. On Sept. 29, 2018, he married his soulmate Katie at Messiah Lutheran Church. He loved his job as an elevator mechanic for Thyssen-Krupp and was a member of the IUEC Local 132.

In his younger years, “Axle” has a passion for racing his #31 car. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was always keeping busy with projects around the house, such as building memorable things for close friends and family. Another sentimental project was restoring the ‘04 Chevy Silverado he purchased with his dad for his girls to someday have and remember him by. Alex cherished time with his family and friends and would make any excuse to get everyone together. He was the kind of friend who would drop anything to help, but always made his number one priority being the best girl dad and husband. Anyone who knew Alex, knew his girls were his world.

Alex is survived by his wife Katie; daughters, Poppi and Lowen; mother, Gina Gray; brothers, Andy (Bonny Kneedler) Lee and Adam Lee; “mom”, Becki Hoppe-Schuler; step-dad, Jason Schuler; cousin “brother”, Kameron (Ariel) Lee; step-sister, Gabi; mother-in-law, Nickie Klahn; father-in-law, Ken Klahn; brother-in-law, Michael (Justine) Klahn; nephew, Gavin; niece, Kinsleigh; aunt, Cindy Hoppe; cousins, Brian (Bobbi) Hoppe, Kailey and Aubrey; and fur-child, Stella. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Lee, III.

A celebration of life will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, to his brothers at IUEC Local 132 and to the Blaska family for their continued love and support. Also, we would like to thank Pastor Jeff for his continued guidance throughout Alex’s battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alex’s memory to the family for a college education fund for Poppi and Lowen.

I graduated with Alex from LaFollette. So very sad. What I remember about Alex he was a good friend, his love for sports football and rugby is the only two I knew of. My heart goes out to Alex's family! Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers!

I met Alex working at Swiss colony / colony brands. A hard worker , smart dude and always willing to help. Definitely championed for me to be more recognized , always enjoyed his company , funny guy and just a good dude over all. He loved to talk about his race car and I was always very interested in what he was into. Never met his children and only knew of his wife thru a photo on his desk at work. I do remember he said “they are my reason to work so hard” gonna miss those times for sure , hard to believe he’s gone , know you will be deeply missed dude , rest in peace Alex.

Alex was one of the most kind hearted, sweet and well liked people i've ever met. We became friends in college at UW-Whitewater and I knew immediately he was someone who shared similar interests, hobbies and keen sense of humor as I did. We had so many great memories and moments together that I will remember forever. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family, wife and children. He will be missed tremendously.
