Obituary

MOUNT HOREB / BLACK EARTH - Donald P. Faust, age 84, of Black Earth, Wis., passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at home. He was born on March 13, 1940, in Cross Plains, at his family’s farm, the son of Peter and Gertrude (Towsley) Faust.

Donald married JoAnne Armbrust on Feb. 28, 1980, at their home in the Town of Vermont. He was a lifelong farmer and worked in roofing for Southern Wisconsin Roofing for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Mount Horeb FFA alumni and enjoyed traveling to Canada with the FFA for the annual fishing trip for many many years.

Donald enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping, fishing, and riding around on his Harley and four-wheeler. Hunting season was a favorite time of the year for him and he enjoyed hunting with his friends, wife, and kids. Don grew up on a small dairy farm and later they switched over to beef farming, he continued to farm beef with his wife and kids in the Vermont Township and continued to farm on his family’s homestead near Cross Plains for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his days farming and driving around taking his dog for rides visiting friends and neighbors.

Donald is survived by his wife, JoAnne Armbrust; children, Kim (Rick) Ackerman, Lynn (Stu) Hodgson, Peter (Martha) Faust, Rick Faust, Nathan Faust, Sarah (Wayne) Aeschbach, Simon (Nicole) Faust, David (Kelsey) Faust and Jordan (Amanda) Faust; grandchildren, Jeff (Jess), Casey (Jeremy), Derek (Breanna), Shane, Shayanna, Carson (Sam) Quinn (Alex), Alli (Micheal), Dustin (Maddie), Lauren, Aquoya, Trinity, Ava, Atticus, and Lincoln; and great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kendra, Amaya, Ashlyn, Sloane, Ramsey, Franklin, Porter and Killian.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Faust; parents, Peter and Gertrude Faust; and sister, Catherine Ellefson.

Donald was an old-school, rough-around-the-edge guy. He loved telling stories and ‘shooting the shit’ as he would say. He worked hard his whole life and taught his kids how to work hard for what you want and that there are no handouts in life. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. And if you’re asking, Donnie is ‘finer than a split frog’s hair’.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO BLACK EARTH FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

I could not have asked for better cousin, childhood friend, friend, hunting partner or, all round good guy. He was like a brother to me. I will miss him more than I can say. I will always have great memories of everything we did together. Hunting and riding our Harley Davidsons together were a couple of the best. Ronald L Faust First cousin to Donnie
