MADISON - Joan Goodsett, age 93, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at Bay Harbor of Madison. She was born on July 10, 1931, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Hubert and Ester (Anderson) Peterson.
Joan graduated from Mesmer High School in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to David Goodsett on June 19, 1954. Joan worked as a dental assistant with her husband, Dave, who was the dentist. She retired after 20 plus years of service.
A model homemaker, Joan brought comfort and joy to her home, creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered. She had a wonderful sense of humor and contagious laugh. She found great delight in the simple pleasure of a good joke, compiling an impressive collection of joke books over the years. She enjoyed solving crosswords, listening to country western music and bowling regularly with her husband.
Joan’s kindness and devotion to her family were unparalleled. Joan's world revolved around her loved ones, and she expressed her affection through her extraordinary culinary skills, often cooking for a crowd with ease.
Joan will be missed by her husband, David; three sons, Stephen (Amy) Goodsett, Tom (Jill) Goodsett and Jim (Lili Tang) Goodsett; three daughters, Catherine (Jeff) Goodsett-Wein, Mary (Dave McCarthy) Goodsett and Jean (Ray Klabunde) Goodsett; grandchildren, Jackie (Jon), Rachel (Chandler), Melissa, Jen (Aleksandar), Brian (Aarathi), Alli (Nick), Mandi (Evan), Brandy (Hunter), Alex and Claudia; great-grandchildren, Westley, Sylas, Hima, William, Roman and Myles; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ester; four brothers, Wally (Theresa) Peterson, Harry (Norma) Peterson, Jack (Norma) Peterson and Pete Peterson; and four sisters, Lorraine (Bud) Wittig, Jerry Peterson, Mary Lou (Tom) Grundel and Jeanette (Dan) McCaig.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
