WAUNAKEE - Mark Robert Cardinale, age 68, of Waunakee, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, after a courageous fight with Glioblastoma. He was surrounded by his loving family at Agrace HospiceCare.

Mark was born on Feb. 19, 1956, in Missoula, Mont., the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Phillips) Cardinale. Mark grew up in Richmond, CA before moving to New Berlin, WI in 1973. He worked at American Motors in Cudahy with his Dad from 1974 - 1976. Mark graduated from West Allis Hale High School in 1974 and moved to Madison in 1976 to attend the University of Wisconsin. In 1981 he founded Advanced Pallet Manufacturing Company in Lodi, WI. Over the many years of running his company he created numerous cherished relationships with his employees, customers, and suppliers.

Mark was a very generous and kind man. There was nothing more important to him than his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They meant the world to him and brought him great happiness. He took immense joy in attending his granddaughters’ sporting events and performances. His faith was of upmost importance to him and brought him great comfort. He spent many years volunteering at Our Lady Queen of Peace. He was a faithful follower of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers.

Mark is survived by the love of his life, Terri Oliversen; children, Elizabeth (Jason Dalton) Cardinale, Christina (Max) Cardinale, Ryan (Megan) Oliversen and Leslie Oliversen; grandchildren, Owen Cardinale, Lauren Sprague, Reagan and Riley Oliversen; mother, Elizabeth; sister, Debbie (Dany) Kapetanovic, dear friends, Russ, Joann and Susan Throndson, Betsy Bussan; and his canine companions, Abby, Frankie, Clementine and Sophie. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, with Father Jay Poster presiding. A private burial will take place at Mount Horeb Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

His family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support they’ve given them and Mark during this journey. They could not have faced his diagnosis without everyone’s care.

To the entire family, we are sorry for your loss. We always enjoyed seeing Mark at Lauren's sporting events. It seemed that no distance was too far. Such a kind man with an easy going manner and a great smile. We hope the family can find comfort in the great memories you have made. Mark, you left too soon, the man upstairs got a good one. Rest easy and enjoy the best seats in the house!
