Obituary

A Trucker takes his final drive.

On March 19, 2024, Donald R. White of Oregon, Wis., with his darling wife, soul mate and life partner Dorothy White by his side went to answer his call to the Lord, after a brief but well fought battle with cancer.

Donald was born at home on June 25, 1943, in Manila, Iowa by his loving grandmother, Hattie Fouts, who at the time was the area midwife.

In 1961 Donald graduated from Platteville High School, and on Aug. 6, 1974, Donald married his best friend, Dorothy (nee Kocovsky).

For 42 years Donald did what he loved almost as much as Dorothy, that was driving long haul! Donald obtained a perfect safety driving record with over two million miles under his belt.

As handsome as he was, Donald did not like having his photo taken. He would always run away from the camera. He enjoyed playing computer games and traveling, especially to the northwest and Canada. He was a collector of die cast model cars and coins. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Miriam Ranger; four grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Leighton, Rebecca (Blake Berry) Thompson, Justin (Tarrah) Ranger and Jordan (Ashley Armstrong) Ranger; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Cali, Simon, Cheyenne, Sam, Tommy, Lucy, Jace, Westin, Allie, Bentley, Nash and Oaklyn; sisters-in-law, Judy White and Ann (Del) Stenjem; brother-in-law, Robert Kocovsky; nieces, Pauline (Dell), Cheryl, Christina (Bobby), Laura, Shirley (Jeremy), Rhonda, Megan (Tom), Sharron (Tom), Melissa, Michelle and Susan (Dennis); nephews, Justin, Duane (Mary), Edward (Jennifer) and Christopher (Jill); and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alta; sisters, Carolyn (Paul) Jansen, Marilyn (Duane) Bobholz, Patricia White and Marlys White; brothers, Robert White, Jerry (June) White and Ronald (Pam) White; infant brother, David White; niece, Teresa; five nephews, Michael, Jim, Roger, David and Darrell; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Kocovsky and Catherine Knickmeier.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mariana Bigham and SSM Health at Home staff, especially Cassie, Tina, Jody, Hannah, Polly, Ace and Chaplain Robert Groth for all their care and support they gave to Donald and family during this time.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
