Obituary

MADISON - Jeffrey N. Peterson, age 64, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Jeff was born on Oct. 21, 1959, in Madison, the son of Rodney and Arlene (Colombe) Peterson.

Jeffrey was a lifelong resident of Madison.  He attended LaFollette High School in Madison, and went on to earn a Business Degree from MATC.  He enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage on Pleasant Lake, where he eventually met his soon to be wife.  In 1983, Jeffrey married his wife of over 40 years, Sherri (Brown) Peterson.  They settled in his hometown of Madison, where they would go on to raise three children.

Jeff ran his own business, River City Vending, operating locally in Madison.  When he wasn’t busy running his business, he enjoyed spending his time tending to his yard, gardens, or chopping and stacking wood to keep his fires going year-round!  When he took a break from the work, he enjoyed playing cards, pickle ball or getting a fun game of water volleyball going in the pool.  You could find him most Saturdays walking around the farmers market, where he became quite well known, mostly for his dog, Wilbur.

Jeff was very social and loved meeting new people and chatting about sports, world events or most importantly, his faith.  He loved teaching and sharing with others the word of the Lord, and always enjoyed a healthy debate and continuous learning.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Sherri; daughters, Angie (Brian) Wheeler and Lisa Peterson; son, Jeffery (Bethany) Peterson Jr.; granddaughters, Kylee Wheeler, Lexi Wheeler, Jaxson Annen and Mirabella Annen; and sisters, Becky (Tom) Calvert and Julie (Glen) Fischer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Arlene.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Jeff will always be our beloved Flora Ln neighbor in our memories and in our hearts. We carry many fond, lasting memories of him: his Nana-Na song, cinnamon rolls from the Farmer's Market, riding his scooter all over town, Pizza Hut, taking our son to Buck's Games, taking both our kiddos to the cabin, taking our kiddos to the Warehouse, moving Scott to NewRichmond in the van, and so many more. Our deepest condolences to the Peterson Family at Jeff's unexpected passing. Love and Sympathy, Scott, Deb, Rhi, and Ryan

Sherri & Family, I am heartbroken for your loss of Jeff. He and I became friends later in life and every time I ran into him we had so much fun talking! My husband and I enjoyed him so much. He had a lot to say! He was looking forward to letting us use his property this summer for our daughter's wedding ceremony. He was beyond kind to my family. Jeff was truly a wonderful person and I know he will be greatly missed. Sherri, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Linda & Mike Odden (Sansone)
