Obituary

LODI / DEKORRA TOWNSHIP - Erik James Knuteson, age 56, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 8, 2024, at UW Hospital in Madison, Wis. He was born on Sept. 21, 1967, in Madison, one of six children in the family of Don and Lorraine Knuteson.

Erik was a graduate of Lodi High School. He was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and his love for his team was unmatched. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger fan who loved his “team.” Erik loved snowmobiling as well and his favorite was Arctic Cat. He raced Arctic Cats in many snowmobile race competitions and performed quite well. Many of his circle of friends and acquaintances held Erik in high regard for his passion, knowledge, expertise and talents in racing but also in his love for ARCTIC CAT.

Erik worked as a repair mechanic, first with the Richard E. Ela Company in Madison and then 20+ years in the same role at the Joe Daniels Company in Madison. He was well known for his hard work to his profession and was highly respected. Erik loved his family, neighbors and friends. He had a very giving spirit and would stop to help anyone. His love for family was unwavering and he will be deeply missed.

Erik is survived by his mother, Lorraine Knuteson; his siblings, Gary (Christy) Duerst, Carol Duerst-Septer, Steven (Jill) Knuteson, David Knuteson and Dale (Heidi) Knuteson; his loving nieces and nephews, Melissa, Jon, Amanda, Josh, Katelyn, Ryan, Emma and Daniel; and great-nieces and nephews, Sami, Drew, Jackson, Donovan, Bradley and Ada. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Knuteson, in 2020.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your son, your brother, your uncle, and friend. The best memories I had of Erik was when we were together in high school. Whether working at the canning company, getting a ride home in his camaro to beat the bus, or going for a snowmobile ride together. We had great times together, and he was a good friend! God bless, Jonathan Bender.

Sending my condolences to his family. Erik was a great friend back in school. He certainly loved working on his bikes and cars. I spent many afternoons riding motor bikes up at his house. He will be missed.
