Cottage Grove - Rosemary L. Leonhardt, age 86, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Drumlin Reserve Memory Care. She was born on Oct. 7, 1937, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Leo and Dorothea (Schuler) McCann.
Rosemary graduated from Central High School in 1955. She married Eugene “Gene” Leonhardt on July 12, 1958, at Hope Lutheran Church. Prior to retirement, Rosemary worked as a supervisor for General Casualty Insurance Company. She loved spending time with her family and many friends. Together, she and Gene were very active. They enjoyed playing in a card club for over 50 years, playing and watching sports of all kinds and travelling.
Rosemary is survived by her daughters, Kim (Tony) Martinez and Tracy (Jeff) Steenis; grandchildren, Roman (Brooke) Martinez, Rachel (Brennan) Kimura, Leah (Jimmy Moore) Steenis and Mason Steenis; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Martinez, Annabelle Martinez and Brian Kimura; brothers, Robert McCann and Michael McCann; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Leonhardt; brothers, Sydney McCann, Leo McCann, Gordon McCann, Pat McCann, Ron McCann, Jack McCann and Terrance McCann; and sisters, Donna Crawford and Delores Vigdal.
A funeral service will be held at Hope Lutheran CHURCH, 3702 County Highway AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, with the Rev. Beth Schultz-Byrnes presiding. Burial will be held at Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
