Mary: As I told you when you called to tell me about Jan's passing, I am so sorry for your loss. I fully intended to be at the service, however, at that time you did not know the date. I am unable to attend today. Dan has a doctor appointment at his assisted-living facility and I need to be there. The time of the service and the time of his appointment do not give me enough time to be at both. Please extend my condolences to Diane, Lori and Julie.
