MADISON - Barbara A. Loney, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Stoughton Meadows. She was born on Oct. 2, 1934, in Madison, the daughter of Russell and Leona (Bowar) Pope.
Barb graduated from Edgewood High School. She married Jerald Loney on June 29, 1957, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. Barb worked in the kitchen at Winnequah School in Monona for many years, retiring in 1990.
Barb was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and later St. Dennis Catholic Church and volunteered at Port St. Vincent for many years. She always had a big flower garden and enjoyed crocheting, canning, and baking especially at Christmas.
Barb is survived by her sons, James (Lys), Stephen and Bryan (Debbie); grandchildren, Zachary (Jen) Loney and their son, James; Joshua (Laura) Loney and their daughter, Evelyn; and Michael (Kat) Loney; sister, Linda (Gail) Otto; sister-in-law, Carol Pope; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald; parents, Russell and Leona; and brother, Richard Pope.
A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
