Obituary

MADISON - Michael C. Riddle, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Sept. 19, 1948, in Madison, the son of Millard Jr. and Freida (Goltz) Riddle.


Michael graduated from East High School in 1968 and was a member of the Future Farmers of America program. He married the love of his life, Christine Melo, on Oct. 20, 1973. They were married for 42 ½ years before she passed away in 2016. He worked as a machine operator for Springs Window Fashions, retiring after 39 years of service.


Mike was a happy, kind, and compassionate man. He made friends easily and loved to talk. Within minutes of meeting him you would have his life story. Mike loved his dogs, BJ, Rosie and King Tut. He loved sports, especially football and baseball and always had fun bowling.


Michael is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Riddle; son, Joseph Riddle; brother, Paul Riddle; brother-in-law, Victor (Carol) Melo; sister-in-law, Lucila Melo-Vargas; nephews, Alexander (Michelle) Melo, Scott Riddle, John Riddle and Mike Riddle; niece, Emily (John) Cauthen; grand-nephew, Joshua Melo; grand-niece, Helen Melo; and cousin, James Timbers.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Jr. and Freida; wife, Christine; brother, Danny Riddle; infant brother, Albert; sisters-in-law, Teofilde Melo, Elena Melo, Transito Melo, Elisa Melo, Beverly Riddle and Carol Timbers; paternal grandparents, Millard Riddle and Barbara Schmidt; maternal grandfather, August Goltz; and maternal grandmother, Anna Heimbecker.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, with Father Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.

Mike is one of the few and far between, where anyone who knows him will tell you the same thing- that they wouldn't have a single doubt in their mind about relying on him and he'd be there for you. One of the most genuine and kind individuals I will ever know.

I was Mike’s boss at Grabers when he worked on Dept 21. He was a great co-worker and friend. He was always so easy to talk too and explain things to me about his job. RIP Mike. Rest easy, you deserve it.
