Obituary

Middleton - Sharon L. (Jones) Grimes, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024. Sharon was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 16, 1938.

Sharon attended Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, Minn. She played basketball and loved learning from and living with the Ursuline Sisters of Central Providence and her fellow classmates. She later attended the University of Minnesota.

Sharon moved to Los Angeles where she got a job at Honeywell. She met her future husband, Donald L. Grimes, and they were married in 1963. Sharon and Don were blessed with the birth of their children, Jennifer A. (Grimes) Baillies in 1965 and John C. Grimes in 1966. The Grimes family lived in numerous places across the United States before eventually settling in Madison, Wis., in 1980.

Sharon attended Edgewood College and earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing and loved being a registered nurse. She made many lifelong friends through Villa Maria, Edgewood College, and Attic Angel Assisted Living.

Sharon was a funny, kind, caring, and beautiful person both inside and out. She loved being social, especially going to theatrical events with her friends and backyard concerts with her neighbors and would rarely turn down a lunch or dinner date with “the girls.” She also enjoyed shopping, spending time with family, going for walks, and admiring nature’s beauty.

Sharon is survived by her two children, Jennifer (Jeffery) Baillies of Oregon, Wis., and John (Jennifer) Grimes of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Paige and Jack Baillies and Phoebe and Greta Grimes; brother, Terry (Cindy) Jones; sisters, Marybeth (Micheal) Mailie and Jeri Ann Hardin (Todd); and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Grimes; mother, Collette (Schwebach) Hardin; and father, Charles Jones.

I always enjoyed seeing my cousin Sharon at relative get-togethers, it was a delight. This was usually at the annual 4th of July get-togethers (and Collette's birthday) in MN. She was a wonderful, beautiful, person and will be missed. Sending love.

To the family of Sharon Here are two of my favorite pictures of her the night we took her to The Overture and on the front porch where she loved planting all her impatience. Her love for many was so wonderful and she and I got along so well ❤️ Yes I loved doing her hair 😉 I’ll never forget Sharon‘s beautiful smile and soft, gentle way of talking, laughing and having a fun day together. We will surely miss her, and I know she’s happily home with her husband Don. God bless your whole family. May He help guide you through this sad journey thought the memory of your mom because she’s watching down on you. Love n prayers to your whole family Ginny & James McGhee

Sorry to hear of your loss about a year ago. I just read about it last Sunday. I was a caregiver for Sharon. I felt like she was not only a client but also like a dear friend and also like a big sister. It was an honor to know her. My Best Regards to all of her loved ones and friends. Clare.
