Obituary
MADISON - Susan Marie Wright, age 69, of Madison, Wis., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 5, 2024.
Susan was born on March 26, 1954, to Wilbur and Lois (Comiskey) Wright at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She loved Madison and spent her entire life there, attending Franklin Elementary and graduating from West High School. Susan worked for many years in her family’s consignment store, The Treasure Mart, in Monona, Wis. She loved the work, enjoyed the customers, and found the merchandise fascinating.
Susan encountered many struggles during her life, but approached each day with a positive attitude. She accepted everyone with an open heart and her beautiful smile. She enjoyed the simple things in life: a drive in the country, a walk in the park, a trip to Lane’s Bakery. She loved her family, the outdoors, art and music, and all animals, especially dogs. She loved keeping track of her nephews during frequent phone calls with her sister and ended every call with, “I love you, always and forever, and don’t ever forget that.” She also enjoyed and appreciated frequent trips to see family in Kenosha and Minocqua and took pride and pleasure in watching her nieces grow up.
Susan is survived by the love of her life, Scott Thompson; her sister, Marjorie Mateer (David) of Niwot, Colo.; and nephews, John Mateer of Fort Collins, Colo., and Daniel Mateer of San Diego, Calif. Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
Susan’s family would like to thank the staff at SSM Health for the excellent and compassionate care she received throughout her life.
No services will be held. In lieu of flowers or donations, Susan would encourage everyone to get outside every day for a walk, never miss the opportunity to pet a friendly dog, and to always tell your family and friends that you love them.
