MCFARLAND - Judith Ellen Kanvik, age 80, of McFarland, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. She was born on May 1, 1945, in Stoughton, the daughter of Alvin and Ruth (Johnson) Kaupanger.
Judi graduated from Stoughton High School in 1963 and went on to complete her nursing education at Lutheran General and Deaconess Hospitals School of Nursing in 1966. She married James Kanvik on October 7, 1966, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Judi began her career as an Oncology Nurse at Madison General Hospital, where she worked for many years. She also had a second career working for WPS until her retirement in 2010.
She loved joining family adventures-camping, fishing, mini-golfing, and exploring new activities. Judi had a creative spirit, spending many hours painting ceramics, knitting and crocheting. She cherished her role as a grandmother and simply loved spending time with her family, playing games and napping with her cat, Gizmo.
Judi is survived by her daughter, Holly (Nancy Garcia) Kanvik; son, Erik (Michelle) Kanvik; grandchildren, Anthony, Sierra, Ava and Lily Kanvik; sister-in-law, Wanda Kaupanger; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kanvik; parents, Alvin and Ruth; and brother, Alan Kaupanger.
In keeping with Judi's wishes, a private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare and Monona Serenity Group.
