Obituary

MADISON - Patricia Ann Stiegman (Ness/Elver), age 84, of Madison, passed away quietly and peacefully in the arms of her daughter, Traci, on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

She was born on July 20, 1939, in Madison, the daughter of Curtis and Irene (Amble) Stiegman. Patricia grew up in both Madison and Morrisonville. She attended Morrisonville Grade School and East High School, but graduated from DeForest High School in 1957. She loved being a majorette at both schools, and won first place in State solo vocals through UW Madison all four years of high school.

Pat worked as an administrative assistant in medical records for UW Hospital, retiring in 2015. She loved her job and was very proud to be a part of UW system. She loved the Brewers and Badgers football,  but was a true-blue Packers fan through good and bad. She loved fishing and hunting, and being outdoors in her garden. She enjoyed throwing coins in a slot machine and going on vacations to Las Vegas with her beloved sister, Nancy, and brother-in-law, John. At home, she loved watching a few sit-coms, but always stayed on top of world events as a constant CNN watcher, and was a faithful fan of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.

Pat was as beautiful inside as she was out. She would literally give the shirt off her back and do anything she could for someone, even through years of constant pain. And she loved to feed people - she never wanted anyone to go hungry, and would constantly mother her children's friends. She had a kind and generous heart, but wasn't afraid to speak her mind, as well as stand up for those who couldn't. Her faith and belief in God and His son, Jesus Christ, ran deep and true, and she deeply believed in the true power of prayer.

Patricia is survived by daughter, Traci Elver; son, Rick (Diane) Ness; sister, Nancy (John) Dinga; two grandchildren, Sydney Ness and Sam Ness; step-grandchild, Seth Allhands; two nephews, Mike (Jennifer) Dinga and Dan (Brenda) Dinga; step-nephew, Hunter (Mina) DeWitt; two nieces, Kim (Steve) Motelet and Lindsey (Tyler) Hendrickson; and great-nephews, Alex Dinga and Greyson Hendrickson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerome "Romey" Stiegman; and two infant sons, Raymond and Rodney Ness, two years a part.

A funeral service will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, with the Rev. Piet Van Kampen presiding. Coffee and desserts will follow at the church. Visitation and fellowship will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe link has been created to assist with Pat's funeral expenses (https://gofund.me/b8cbcd8d).

The family would like to thank Mom's Hospice nurse, Allison, for her patience, kindness, gentleness and compassion through her journey.  You cared for her, but also for us, and you are loved for it.

A special thank you to Traci for all of your sleepless nights, your many years of caring and loving my sister, you nursed her thru cancer and dementia, you are an angel on earth - Love you "Nanc"

My sweet cousin Patsy, I have such fond memories of the Annual Amble Family Picnics at Olin Park with Grandma Anna Amble. How blessed were we to have her for a Matriarch and role model? You raised two amazing children, Pat, in Rick and Traci. Our hearts ached for you during the loss of your two baby sons. Nancy shared with me that on your last visit together, you recited the 23rd Psalm by memory. It was imprinted on your heart. There is no doubt where you are right now: Beginning the best phase of your life for eternity. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." -Shakespeare Love always, Your Cuz Cindy Amble Lukas
