Obituary
MADISON - Michael Charles Hunter, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on Feb. 8, 1950, in Richland Center, the son of Leon and Lucy (Chadwick) Hunter.
Michael graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1968 and attended UW-Oshkosh. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked in the building trades, designing kitchens for over 30 years in the Madison area.
Michael loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time at Snicks Bar, where he had his "spot" at the end of the bar and sailing and racing sailboats on Lake Monona with his good friend, Dave Platt. He also enjoyed camping, watching baseball and was an avid Badgers, Brewers and Packers fan.
Michael is survived by his son, Daniel Hunter; sister, Deb Noll; brother, Bill (Sue) Hunter; sister-in-law, Ruth Hunter; grandchildren, Maggie, Logan and Emmitt Hunter; niece Jen (Mark) Metcalf; and nephews, Scott (Sam) Noll, Greg (Vanessa) Noll and Matt Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeff Hunter; brother-in-law, Bob Noll; and former wife, Rita Jones.
A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
