Obituary
MADISON - Donald Frank Lucier, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 27, 1931, in Kenosha, Wis., the son of Leo and Clara (Gegare) Lucier.
Donald graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1959. Donald received his B.S. in Business Administration from Marquette University in 1959. He married Audrey (nee Egerer) on Nov. 10, 1973, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Donald worked for the City of Milwaukee as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1993 after 33 years. While living in Milwaukee, Donald was active with Our Lady of Sorrow’s parish as an usher and volunteer until he and Audrey moved to Madison in 2007.
Donald was an avid reader and traveler. He traveled to all 50 states and beyond. He enjoyed jogging and when running with his sons he was competitive and lapped them several times.
Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Audrey; five children, Anthony (Stephanie) Egerer, Melanie (Brian) Jicha, Dale (Jen) Lucier, Mark (Bobby) Lucier and Karen (Chad) Kuypers; six grandchildren, Benjamin and Amelia Jicha, Nalani and Elias Lucier, and Vanderbilt and Ellis Kuypers; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Laverne (Arnie) Debonis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, with Father Bill Nolan presiding. Burial will be held at Blooming Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s Research Fund or a charity of your choice.
