MADISON - Willian Henry “Nuck” Johnson III passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1981, in Chicago Ill., to William Johnson Jr. and Shelly Dean, and attended La Follette High School in Madison, Wis. Nuck loved his three children, his family and friends, and especially enjoyed being the big brother to his siblings. Nuck was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved watching football and cracking jokes to Green Bay Packers fans. Nuck was driven, and maintained his independence despite challenges that arose.
He is survived by his mother, Shelly Dean; his grandmother, Mrs. Johnson; his daughters, Destiny and Payton; his son, Justus; sisters, Laura Johnson and Leslie Mitchum; brother, Michael Lancaster; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Nuck was greeted in heaven by his father, William Johnson Jr., grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean, and Mr. Johnson; brother, Larry Mitchum; cousin, Mickey Dean; uncle, Cheyenne Dean; cousin, Deanna Ship; as well as his dog and companion, Diamond.
Nuck’s celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024. After the service, family and friends will gather at Elver Park Neighborhood Center, 1201 McKenna Blvd. Madison, Wis.
