Obituary

MADISON, Wis. / SYLMAR, Calif. - Michael John "Mike" Blake, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at Ingleside Manor, Mount Horeb, Wis. He was born on July 19, 1941, in Mount Clemens, Mich., the son of Frank and Mary (Culley) Blake.


Michael served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 - 1962 as a Navy Hospital Corpsman in San Diego.

He graduated from California State University Northridge in 1971 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and from Southwestern Law School, Los Angeles.  Michael married Jean (Rutz) Hagen on Dec 29, 2001, in Santa Clarita, Calif.


Mike worked as a Medical Malpractice Lawyer for 40 + years. He served 40+ years in the Lutheran Church. Mike was very proud of his service with the prison ministry. Most of all, he loved his family!


Mike is survived by his wife Jean; daughter, Christy Blake; son, Gary (Lauren) Blake; sister, Judy Eighmy; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Randy) Odrich; grandchildren, Ben and Olivia Odrich, Adam and Eric Hagen, Allison and Kayla Blake; and step-daughter-in-law, Deanna Hagen. He was preceded in death by parents; first wife and mother of his children, Mary Jean "Jeanie" Stone; and stepson, Mike Hagen.


A funeral service will be held at OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1701 McKenna Blvd., Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, with Pastor Phillip Moldenhauer presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Military honors and a graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Black Earth. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
