Obituary

OREGON - Michael E. Gregg, age 82, of Oregon, Wis., passed away on Tuesday July 15, 2025, at Sienna Meadows Memory Care facility in his hometown. Michael was born to Edward and Maude (Soper) Gregg on July 26, 1942, in Galesburg, Ill. 


Michael is survived by the love of his life, Veralee; and two boys, Alex (Tina Marie) Gregg and Matthew (Tonia) Gregg; and three grandchildren, Elijah Gregg, Brody Greg and Casey Lynn Gregg.  He is also survived by his sister, Terry (Steve) Whiteside. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maude.


Michael was kind, analytical, curious, patient, fun-loving, hard-working, conscientious and chivalrous.  


In the words of his loving wife: When Michael came into my life, little did I know I had met not only my future husband, but my best friend.  The way he listened and understood with his heart, the way he knew my quirks and how to make me laugh, the way he gave me room to be myself and loved me for me… Those are the things that have made Michael the closest friend I have ever known and the man I am so deeply in love with.  He has shown me time and again how good life can be when it is lived in true friendship and love. Falling in love with Michael was the most natural thing I have done in my life.  We have experienced so many things in our life together; living life to the fullest and surviving the lows and the highs, hand in hand.


Michael was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He has treasured his many friends and dearly loved his family.

A celebration of life will be held at Four Winds Farm, 5735 Adams Road, Fitchburg, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025.

I worked for Mike at Ikaria many years ago. He was the kindest human being I have ever met. He always made sure the ladies were comfortable working with the guys. It was an honor to work for him and I will always remember his kindness. RIP Mike, you will be truly missed.

I always liked Mike and worked well with him. I can't remember any significant disagreements between us through the multiple project developments and product issues we shared - I was in Design Engineering and he was in Operations at GE Healthcare.
