Obituary

MOUNT HOREB- Corinne L. “Connie” Peterson, age 91 of Mount Horeb, Wis., passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024. She was born in La Crosse, Wis., on June 8, 1932.

Corinne is survived by her children, Deborah (Mike), Diana (David), David (Susan), Daniel (Darolanne) and Mary (Joel); 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Donald Robert; grandson, Daniel; great-grandson, Atley; parents, Lillian and Frank; and siblings, Jimmy, Frank, Robert, Don, Bill and Ruth (Tucky).

Connie was grounded in her Christian faith and was born again when she was 40. She walked in step with the Holy Spirit, staying close to Jesus and standing on the truth of God's Word for 52 years. Connie was extremely generous with her time, faith, and capacity to serve others with Bible studies in her home, a 36-year nursing home music ministry and sharing the gospel with others. She always took time to pray with the residents individually and brought so many new believers to Christ. She loved to cook, bake, go ballroom dancing, and celebrations, especially birthdays and holidays.

A Special Message from Grandma herself called, "Only A Step."

Do not grieve for me, my dear ones now that I have gone away

I've only stepped quietly through the door to the dawn of a brighter day

If you could see the beauty of the garden I'm walking through

If you could feel the touch of his hand, you would want to walk here, too

If you could see the sunshine with no dark shadows lurking near

If you could know the joy supreme, I find with my Lord so dear

Where pain no more can touch me

Where no sorrow can ever be

You would be glad I slipped away to this beautiful land of eternity

A memorial service with celebration of life will be held at EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

My sincere condolences to Connie's family and friends. Connie and I worked together for many years at CUNA Mutual Group, and she rode to work with me. She and her entire family mean the world to me. She was the most faithful person, I have ever had the pleasure to call my dear friend. I have no doubt that she is in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I send prayers for peace and comfort to those who grieve her passing. Blessing to all who loved her. With all my love.....Char Smith
