BROOKLYN / OREGON - Ruth A. Anthony, age 80, of Brooklyn, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at home. She was born on July 22, 1943, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Victor and Eva (Bethel) Reindahl. Ruth married Rodney Anthony on Feb. 27, 1960, in Brooklyn, Wis., and they were just shy of celebrating 64 years together.
Ruth was raised in and spent all her life in the Brooklyn and Oregon area. Ruth’s parents owned Reindahl Trucking and Stone, and she was always very proud of her work there as a Crusher Operator in her teens.
Ruth loved horse-riding and traveled Southern Wisconsin showing horses at county fairs and horse shows. She loved all animals and had many faithful canine companions over the years. For almost 30 years, Ruth traveled across the state with Rodney for work, only coming home on the weekends to do laundry, canning, and preparing to back on the road on Sunday.
Ruth was an excellent cook and could make anything you wanted. Even up to the very end, Rodney would cook, and Ruth would tell him what he missed. They were a great team and always took good care of each other.
Ruth is survived by husband, Rodney; granddaughter, Danielle Wagner; son-in-law, Mark Kowing; sister, Norma Winch; great-granddaughter, Keila; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Lynn Ann Anthony in 2008; her parents, and brother.
A funeral service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, with Pastor Lucie Yaba presiding. Visitation will be held at the chapel from 12 noon until the time of the service on Friday.
