Jack was a kind and patient professor. I had been out of school for quite a while when I returned as a graduate student and I lacked confidence. I'll never forget how encouraging and supportive Jack was. He was a terrific role model. I hope I was able to channel some of that kindness into my own mentorship of graduate students.
