Obituary

Madison - Jeffrey R. Bonjean, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on July 12, 1956, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of Robert Bonjean and Rose Marie Quinette. He graduated from La Follette High School in 1974. He met his sweetheart, Kim Becker, in 1977. The two married on May 16, 1981, at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison.

While Jeff spent his days working in sales, a career he dedicated 40 years of his life to, sports and his family were his real passion. Jeff was an avid Badgers and Packers fan and proud season ticket holder. He spent his weekends camping, golfing and frequenting beer gardens.

When Jeff became a proud grandpa, his life was complete. His four grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Kim; two daughters, Amy (Michael) Jacyna and Jody (Tyler) Kroneman; grandchildren, Cameron and Keira Jacyna, Tracen and Tayden Kroneman; siblings, Terry (Ray) Skolaski and Tim (Sonia) Bonjean; and many other family and friends who will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Orville (Ellen) Becker; and brother-in-law, William Becker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, with Father Michael Resop presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kyriakopoulos, PA Meghan Wells and their team at UW Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace HospiceCare for their excellent care.

Memorials may be made to Carbone Cancer Center Wisconsin Chapter. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Lambeau Field, Nov 26, 2015. Thanksgiving. Aaron Rodgers was there. Brett Favre was there. Bart Starr was there. Jeff and Cameron were also there. It was history in the making. It was Cameron's first ever game. Watching Jeff proudly walk his six-year-old grandson through the gates of Lambeau for the first time is only rivaled by the magnificence of Lambeau Field itself. Cameron was in awe. The game itself was noteworthy, not only because "#4" was ceremoniously retired that day, but because of how cold, damp, rainy, wet, uncomfortably soggy and miserable it was. We watched as Jeff's beloved Packers lost to the Bears in their own house. Only two people out of 81,000 suffering at Lambeau kept a smile through the entire night: Jeff and Cameron. Not just because they were having fun, but because they were there together. Thank you for everything, Jeff. We'll miss you so much. -Mike
