MADISON / RACINE - The family of Richard V. Guzman announce his peaceful passing in the presence of his family on March 2, 2026, at the age of 94, in Madison, Wis. Richard was born on August 4, 1931, in Kennedy, Texas, to Erasmo P. Guzman and Antonia Villigaz-Guzman and was the youngest of five sons. Eventually, Richard settled in Racine, Wis., and on November 23, 1957, he married Juana Hernandez.
As a lifelong music lover, Richard learned to play several instruments and performed in several bands over the years such as The Jack Pachuca Orchestra, Los Tropicales, and his own band, Ricardo y sus Diablitos. With his love for Latin music, Richard transitioned in the 1970s to hosting a radio show, “Exitos Musicales,” each Saturday morning for the Latino community, and often served as emcee in community events. Even in retirement, Richard could be found occasionally strumming his guitar.
Richard worked as a machine operator for the J.I. Case/lnternational Harvester Company in Racine for 30 years. He also loved to travel, taking his family on many road trips over the years across the Western and Southern U.S. He continued this passion into retirement traveling with his wife in their RV.
Richard was preceded in death by both parents and four brothers, Manuel, Silvestre (Maria), Bentura (Carmen) and Juan (Rosa); and granddaughter, Elena Guzman. He is survived by his wife, Juana of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Hilda (Bryan Grau) of Madison, Wis.; and five sons, Richard Jr. (Susan Cheverton) of Brea, Calif., Robert (Anna Perez) of Racine, Wis., Randy (Kim Kraus) of Racine, Wis., Ruben of Irvine, Calif., and Ramon (Megan Savoth) of Boston, Mass.; as well as 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the University Hospital Palliative Team, B4 Team, as well as Agrace Inpatient Hospice Care Team for taking such great care of Richard.
A celebration of Richard's life will be planned at a later time.
