CROSS PLAINS / SAUK CITY - Valeria G. (Wipperfurth) Dresen, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024. Valeria was born to Henry and Margaret (Statz) Wipperfurth on July 18, 1926. She married the love of her life, Ray Dresen, on April 11, 1950, at St. Mary of the Lake, Westport. Together they farmed for many years in rural Cross Plains while raising six children.

Valeria started her career at Oscar Mayer where she would often mention what a good job that was. When she married Ray and moved out of Madison, she would eventually start cleaning houses with her sister-in-law, Cora, then later on her own where she made many friends along the way. There wasn’t a dust bunny that could hide from her!

She gathered many memories in her long and happy life, her favorites being family gatherings, socializing with friends, card clubs, cooking and baking, crocheting, gardening, canning, shopping and good old-time music, especially polkas. She enjoyed being a member of St. Martins Catholic Church in Martinsville.

Valeria is survived by her children, Sue (Dave Nelson) Danz, Paul (Lori) Dresen, Steve (Donna) Dresen, Alan (Sue) Dresen, Jeff (Shirley Noltner) Dresen and Kris (Jim) Wagner; grandchildren, Ryan (Mari) Danz, Erin (Omar Semia) Danz, Eric (Nicole) Dresen, Deann Noeding, Daren (Kristi) Dresen, Dustin Dresen, Ashley Dresen, Nick (Rina) Dresen and Lindsey (Joe) Schoenemann; and great-grandchildren, Marin, Maxx and Caid Danz, Kaleb, Ella and Cooper Dresen, Eliotte and Alice Noeding, Pierson and Dylan Dresen, Jovi and Baby #2 Dresen (coming soon) and William and Roselyn Schoenemann. She is also further survived by sisters, Leona Roberson and Marge (Lloyd) Dresen; brother, Tom Wipperfurth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents; sisters, Marie Pierce, Angie (Donnie) Grosse, Lucy (Louis) Dresen and Betty (LeRoy) Thompson; brothers, Joe and Herman (Nancy) Wipperfurth; brother-in-law, Jack Roberson; sister-in-law, Barb Wipperfurth; a niece, Karen Hanson; and nephew, Bill Wipperfurth. In addition, Ray’s parents, siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARTIN OF TOURS PARISH, 5959 St. Martin Circle, Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.
