POYNETTE - Diane L. North, age 73, and William J. North, age 86, of Poynette, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024. Diane passed at Divine Rehab and Nursing (Lodi) and William at their home.


She was born on April 19, 1950, in Fulton, Ill., the daughter of William Louis Schrader and Wilma Jean Schrader, and he was born on December 13, 1937, in Paris, Ill, the son of Samuel and Anna (Petty) North.


Diane graduated from Fulton High School, Fulton, Ill., and then from Fennimore Technical College. William graduated from Paris High School, Paris, Ill. They married on March 14, 1971, in Fairhaven, Carrol Co. Ill.


William served in the U.S. Air Force.


Diane worked as a computer programmer for American Family Insurance. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Madison. Diane was musically inclined, enjoyed dancing, especially polka’s, played accordion and loved singing, and had an extensive carnival glass collection.


William worked as a mechanic and was self-employed. He was an avid outdoorsman and constructed several handmade birch bark canoes.



Diane and William are survived by two sons, Sterling (Amanda) North, and William (Carol) North III; daughter, Sheree Donaldson; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. They were preceded in death by their parents, and William’s brother, Robert North.


Graveside Service will be held at WALNUT HILL CEMETERY, 1805 East Street, Baraboo, at 1 p.m. on Tues., January 23, 2024, with Rev. Michael Lee presiding.
